The Privacy Policy for Postion.

Last Updated: [2025.7.1]

Your privacy and data ownership are core to our mission at Postion. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in a few different ways:

  • Information You Provide:

    • Account Information: When you sign up, you provide your name, email address, and password. You may optionally add a profile picture and bio.
    • Content Data: All the content you create, including drafts, posts, images, and comments.
    • Payment Information: If you enable paid subscriptions, you will provide payment information directly to our payment processor (e.g., Stripe). Postion does not store your full credit card details.
    • Subscriber Information: The email addresses of your subscribers. This list belongs to you.
  • Information We Collect Automatically:

    • Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with our Services, such as pages visited, features used, and time spent on the site. We use this to improve our product.
    • Log Data and Cookies: Like most websites, we use cookies and log files to collect technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, and device information. This helps us secure our platform and provide a reliable service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We are committed to using your data responsibly and in line with our "Creators First" principle.

  • To Provide and Maintain the Service: To host your site, display your content, process payments, and send emails to your subscribers on your behalf.
  • To Improve Our Services: We analyze aggregated and anonymized usage data to understand what features are working and how to make Postion better.
  • To Personalize Your Experience: For example, using your data to power your site's internal search or recommend relevant content to your readers from your own knowledge base.
  • For Security: To protect our Services and our users from fraud, spam, and abuse.
  • To Communicate With You: To send you important service updates, security alerts, and information about new features (you can opt-out of promotional emails).

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal data. We only share it in the following limited circumstances:

  • With Your Subscribers (as directed by you): Your public content and profile information are, by nature, shared with your audience. When you publish a post, we send it to your subscriber list.
  • With Service Providers: We work with trusted third-party companies to help us operate our Services, such as payment processors (Stripe), cloud hosting providers (e.g., AWS, Vercel), and email delivery services. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and only use it for the services they provide to us.
  • For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation or protect the safety of our users.
  • In Case of a Business Transfer: If Postion is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

4. Integration with Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Threads)

To provide our core social media management services, Postion integrates with Meta's platforms. When you connect your Facebook, Instagram, or Threads account to Postion, you authorize us to access certain data via Meta's APIs. We only request permissions that are essential for our app's functionality. Here is a detailed breakdown of the permissions we request and exactly how we use the data associated with them:

a. Account Connection and Profile Information:

  • Permissions Used: public_profile, instagram_basic, threads_basic, pages_show_list, business_management.
  • Purpose: To establish a secure connection, we use these permissions to retrieve your basic profile information (such as your name and profile picture) and a list of the Facebook Pages and Instagram Professional Accounts you manage. This is necessary to correctly identify your accounts and allow you to select which specific profiles you wish to manage within the Postion dashboard. This information is displayed within your private dashboard solely for your reference.

b. Content Publishing and Management:

  • Permissions Used: pages_manage_posts, instagram_content_publish, threads_content_publish.
  • Purpose: These permissions are central to Postion's service. They grant our application the ability to act on your behalf to publish the content you create, schedule, and approve within our platform. This allows you to post directly to your connected Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts, and Threads profiles without leaving our app.

c. Audience Engagement and Communication:

  • Permissions Used: pages_read_engagement, instagram_manage_messages.
  • Purpose: To help you manage your community efficiently, these permissions allow our app to retrieve comments on your Facebook Page posts and access your Instagram Direct Messages. This enables you to view and reply to audience interactions from a single, unified inbox within Postion, streamlining your workflow.

Our Commitment to Your Meta Data:

  • The data obtained from Meta is used exclusively to provide and improve the features described above.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your data from Meta with any unaffiliated third parties.
  • All data, including access tokens, is stored securely using industry-standard encryption and security protocols.
  • You can revoke our access to your Meta data at any time from your Postion account settings or directly from your Facebook account's "Apps and Websites" settings. Revoking permissions will disconnect the corresponding account from our service.

5. Your Data Rights and Choices

You are in control of your data.

  • Access and Update: You can access and update your account information at any time through your dashboard settings.
  • Data Portability: You can export your content and subscriber list at any time. We believe in data freedom and will not lock you in.
  • Deletion: You can delete your account at any time. When you delete your account, we will permanently delete your personal information and content from our production systems, subject to any legal retention requirements.

6. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to, and maintained on, computers located outside of your state, province, or country. By using our Services, you consent to this transfer.

7. Security

We take security seriously and use industry-standard measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and, if the changes are significant, by providing a more prominent notice (like an email).
